Dr. James Mulwana Made his cornerstone mark on Uganda`s Manufacturing sector in 1988, when he revived the Uganda Manufacturers Association in which he served as Chairman until 2000. In the same year, He founded JESA Mixed Farm, with a herd of 550 Friesian cows. Later, Jesa Mixed Farm’s operations expanded; leading to the establishment of Jesa Farm Dairy Limited (1994), with a milk processing, pasteurizing and packaging plant to produce packed milk, butter yoghurt and cream. In 1992, he established Nsimbe Estates Limited mainly involved in horticultural farming for export of cut flowers, in a joint venture with a German partner. Mr. Mulwana also established Jesa Investments Limited is a Commercial Property Development entity in 2002.
As quoted by the CEO magazine (2010), Dr. James Mulwana was a Board Maestro like no other in Uganda. He served on numerous boards and committees. He served as Director to the Board of Standard Chartered Bank Uganda Limited, was a founder member of the East African Business Council and was elected to serve as Chairman of EABC in 2000-2001 and again 2003-2004, in 1995, BAT Uganda appointed him to its Board of Directors and later as a nonexecutive Chairman of the Board.
The International Finance Corporation in 1996 elected Mr. Mulwana as a board member to the International Finance Corporation Business Advisory Council, which has its headquarters in Washington D.C. In 1999, he was appointed to the Board of Directors East African Development Bank. Dr. James Mulwana later served as Director Eskom Uganda, Insurance Corporation of Uganda and Airtel Uganda.
In 1993, was appointed Honorary Consul of the Royal Kingdom of Thailand to Uganda. In October 2008, He was promoted as Honorary Consul General, a position he held until 2013.
Dr. James Mulwana was married to Sarah Mulwana with Three children Geoffrey Mulwana, Primrose Mulwana and Barbara Mulwana.
